The Posture of Faith
by Rev'd Osei Assibey Boafo Pastor FCI Peckham Assembly

Faith is one of the most central parts of our relationship with God. No matter who we are, no matter what our walk in life, there will be trying times for us. These difficult moments test our faith and trust in God. Our faith is tested daily.

The Bible declares it is "impossible to please God" without faith (Hebrews 11:6). But what is faith?

Faith isn't simply a belief you adopt. It's an operating system for your entire life. Faith is confidence in God. (Hebrews 11:1). Therefore, taking a POSTURE OF FAITH IS VERY IMPORTANT because life is all about faith either, you believe in God or in something else.

Just as people can develop bad posture and become slouchy in their bodies, Christians can also develop "bad posture" and become slouchy in their Christian lives.

Apostle Paul writes, "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." (1 Cor 16:13 KJV)

The word stand means to remain upright on a firm foundation, while the word fast means to be set, fixed in position, tight, or deeply rooted.

Paul was saying there are some things for which we need to stand straight and tall and not become slouchy, move, or relax our position.

The Bible makes it clear that we are to stand fast in the faith. No false doctrine, no teaching of error, and no influence should cause Christians to sway from the faith of the Word of God. In fact, Jude 1:3 takes it a step further and says this, "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."

Our faith is the foundation on which we stand; it is the only way to please God (Hebrews 11:6); it is also the shield that protects us against the fiery darts of the wicked. We cannot let our faith lax. God's Word commands us to trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Having true faith will help us make sense of this troubling and confusing world. It will give us the confidence to move forward with our lives despite trials and setbacks.

We are in a season that requires us to keep believing in God and maintaining a close relationship with Him.

We can have this relationship with God through daily prayer, Bible study and applying what God says in the Scriptures in our personal life.
